Serve the City-June 9-12
Join us for Serve the City as Heartland Community Church and the Bridge Church partner together for a local mission project to reach families in Wichita with the gospel through mercy. Each morning we will head into neighborhoods to do construction and work, each afternoon we will have a backyard Bible club at Clark Elementary and each evening we will have a community worship service at Heartland (open to the church and community).
This year Taylor Tollison will be our guest speaker at our worship services for Serve the City. Taylor worked with Campus Outreach for 9 years in Tennessee where he established a new Campus Outreach. He is working on his degree at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC. Taylor currently works at Second Presbyterian Church as the Domestic Outreach Coordinator while also serving as the Director of Operations for Memphis City Seminary. He will preach for us each night during Serve the City.
We hope you are able to join us this year for Serve the City! Adults can minister during a portion of the day with construction, Bible club or meals and youth (after serving during the day) will have a lock-in at the church. Sign up sheets and packets explaining Serve the City are available in the Gathering Area. Registration is required for adults and youth to serve!
Any youth who is participating in this event needs to submit a $200 payment no later than June 5th to help cover the cost of food, supplies, etc. If you have need of a scholarship or have any questions, please contact Pastor Gary.
Cope Poverty Training will take place on Wednesday, June 5.
Our congregation sends and supports missionaries in many locations around the world. We focus our efforts to produce maximum impact on the growth of the kingdom. Heartland Community Church provides missionary support in a variety of ways such as prayer, financial support, training, encouragement, and communication.
For more information check out MTW (Mission to the world) which serves as the sending agency for our denomination. https://mtw.org
Our short-term mission focus has expanded and has begun to minister in a manner which more closely models Acts 1:8, with missions beginning in Wichita (“Jerusalem”) and continuing all the way to our international missionary partners (“the outermost parts of the world”). Family involvement in short-term missions is increasing as we provide pathways to ministry that are suitable for all life stages.
